How to Use Shampoo and Conditioner Bars

How to Use Shampoo and Conditioner Bars

Create suds by either rubbing the bar directly on to your hair or rub the bar between your hands.  How much you will need will depend on how long your hair is and whether your hair is thick or fine.  Wash your hair as you normally would, massaging the scalp gently with your fingers to avoid tangling and damaging the follicles and then be sure to rinse your hair thoroughly.  You can then follow with a conditioner bar; rub between your hands to build up a lather and apply to the ends of your hair only, do not rub the conditioner bar directly on to your hair or scalp.  Alternatively, you can use Apple Cider Vinegar - 3 parts water to 1 part ACV.  Use either as a rinse in the shower or apply it after your shower using a spray bottle; the ACV smell will disappear as your hair dries.

Following regular use of chemical-based shampoos and conditioners, using natural shampoos and conditioners with no chemicals can cause a detox reaction from your hair.  It may feel “gummy” for a week or so but persist with it because the result will be worth it.  The reason your hair and scalp will go through a detox period is because chemical-based shampoos and conditioners strips your hair of its natural oils and then coats it with chemicals.  The “gummy” feeling whilst going through detox is the chemical coating being stripped away.

To ensure bars last as long as possible let them dry out between uses.  If left sitting in water the bar won’t last as long as it potentially could.  Also, if the same bar is being used by many people and not getting a chance to dry out it will disappear quicker, so it is a good idea to alternate.

The following list is a rough guide of which bars are suited to which hair/skin types.  But everyone is unique, so it is a good idea to try them for yourself and see what works best for you.  If you have any questions get in touch through Facebook, Instagram, website, or email.
